PET/CT SCANS 
West Valley Imaging Center is pleased to offer our patients an exciting new technology called PET/CT.
PET (Positron Emission Tomography) is able to uncover many conditions including cancer, Alzheimer's Disease and coronary artery disease in the early stages of their development. Through molecular imaging, PET detects changes in cellular metabolism which such diseases cause, and transforms this biochemical information into pictures. PET/CT is the newest and best way to pinpoint the precise location of a tumor, and to follow the response of a tumor to chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or surgery. This major advance in imaging technology and patient care combines the power of molecular imaging (PET) with the superior anatomic detail of CT into a single, "fused" scan.
