MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING (MRI)
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a highly accepted and utilized diagnostic imaging procedure. MRI combines strong magnetic field, radio frequency waves and computer reconstruction to create detailed images of internal anatomy. MRI does not involve ionizing radiation employed by x-rays and CT scanners. Radiologists review and interpret the MRI images.
Some MRI procedures require contrast media or agents. Contrast is a clear liquid material that highlights anatomy to improve visualization. Contrast can be given intravenously or into joints during certain scans. Concerns about the use of contrast will be addressed by our staff.
